Emerald Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir clusters growing
In the Vineyard
Our warm (and sometimes hot!) end to spring and start of summer has given our vineyards quite a push in their growth. As you can see in the picture of our Emerald Ridge Pinot here, the clusters are filling out nicely. The vineyard team is busy now tucking and positioning the canes in their wires along the trellis system, exposing the clusters to airflow, and setting everything up for thinning the crop and eventually picking.
Combined with the dry start of the season, which got the vines off to a quick start, it's looking at this point that we might have an early beginning to harvest. Of course, Mother Nature may still throw us a curveball, but if things continue the way they have, Steve is projecting that Dutton Ranch will start picking for bubbly in mid-August, and for still wine by late August. So, it looks like the Labor Day weekend may truly be three days of working rather than the last time off before the crush of harvest!
Meet the Team: Part 2
In our continuing series on Instagram and Facebook, we're introducing you to the members of the DG team. Next up in our Meet the Team Series is our fearless leader, Valerie. Valerie is our General Manager, and has been with DG for over 19 years. As Dan and Steve say “she is the glue that holds us all together.” She may be tiny, but don’t let her size fool you – she is a force of nature. DG wouldn’t be DG without her. |

With the restrictions lifted, we are now able to host tastings both outside on our patio and indoors. We've brought back our Wine & Cheese pairing (which we do host indoors), or you can choose our classic Discovery or Pinot Noir only flight. Due to staffing and space limitations, we are still hosting by appointment only, so please schedule your visit to come see us! During the week, we sometimes have availability for same-day or walk-in visits, but our weekends have become quite busy, so book a reservation so you're ensured of a table when you arrive. You may also call us at 707.827.3600 to schedule your visit. |
Happy summer to everyone. We hope you're enjoying these long days.
Here's to life without masks for all our vaccinated friends—we are thrilled to see your smiling faces and have you see ours!
