The 2021 harvest is almost a wrap!
After a non-stop seven weeks, we are finally relieved to get a bit of a breather today from the fruit avalanche, with only our tiny half ton of Devil's Gulch Gewürztraminer coming in. It was a Devil's Gulch week all around, with Mark Pasternak delivering his beautiful, and relatively bountiful, pinot in three lots on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (nice looking cluster, Mark, and we love the pig suspenders!). That leaves just one block of Devil's Gulch pinot, along with the chardonnay, yet to be harvested. After those, only the late harvest syrah we're bringing in to make our port-style Happy Ending will be left on the Dutton-Goldfield grape incoming spreadsheet. Whew!
While we wrap up the last of the incoming, we are also beginning the fun magic of transforming the grapes to the end product we all love. While some lots, like our Rued Chardonnay, are left to ferment with their indigenous yeast (or "feral," as Dan likes to call it), we innoculate others to ensure that fermentation happens without issues—no one likes a stinky, stuck fermentation. Here we are brewing up a batch to add to our Walker Chardonnay barrels, mixing the powder with wine from the barrel to hydrate it. We even got Dan into the action for siphoning assistance!

Meet the Team: Part 4
Marianne Luzaich
We continue our series showcasing our amazing DG team with one of our longest-tenured mates, the seemingly one-degree of separation from pretty much everyone in West County: Marianne Luzaich!
There's still time to get your 2017 magnums, with shipping included
We're excited to share our magnums from the beautifully balanced and age-worthy 2017 vintage. The wet winter got the vines off to a healthy start, then the generally cool summer and warm harvest season gave us strong vines and canopies, and a long hang time. The wines showcase Dan's winemaking style perfectly: purity of fruit with a strong reflection of each individual single-vineyard site. These wines are delicious now, and will also age gracefully for at least a decade. We produce only a limited number of bottles of magnums each year, so supplies are limited.
Orders 3 or more magnums and receive UPS Ground shipping included!

Here's to a great end to the 2021 harvest!
