Our 2018 Angel Camp Vineyard Pinot Noir
Receives 96 Points!

While we never make our wines with scores in mind, it was definitely cool to receive an email from Wine Enthusiast that they would be rating our 2018 Angel Camp Vineyard Pinot Noir 96 points & Editors' Choice in the Best of Year issue coming out next month. As a fan of DG, you likely aren't surprised, and already know why this sultry and elegant beauty from Anderson Valley has built such a large fan base since we started making it in 2010. 

Brian Zalaznik, a long-time DG customer and friend, planted the vineyard in memory of his late brother and his family who died tragically. We've been honored to craft wine from this beautiful site up on a knoll in the "deep end" of Anderson Valley. We hadn't ventured so far north with our vineyard selections prior to this and loved how the spicy wine provided a counterpoint to our fruit-driven Sonoma County Pinots. The 2018 vintage leads with dusky blackberry and plum aromas complemented with savory beet and earthy notes. Christmas spices provide a lacy framework. The aromas carry through in the mouth, with sweet black cherry, purple plum, dried flowers, and sandalwood combining in a complex and harmonious balance. Round and graceful tannins give the wine an approachability now, while the breadth allows for nice aging potential.
