UPCOMING VINTAGES
2011 seemed to be follow 2010's lead when it came
to our weather. We thought 2010 was one of the most unseasonably
cool and foggy ones, even by Russian River Valley standards
until now. Harvest 2011 was about 3 weeks behind schedule, with
yields down due to the late June rains. Fortunately, the quality,
especially for the pinots, is wonderful, as the grapes love
the long hangtime and extended maturation window. The chardonnays
took a little extra time and love on the sorting table, but
the extra effort will certainly pay off in the bottle.
In the cellar, we've bottled all our 2009 vintage
wines, and the first of the 2010 vintage. We'll again have our
new favorite, Emerald Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir, for a spring
release, and have also added a couple new tiny lots of fun things
we couldn't refuse. Stay tuned for more on those as the year
progresses.
