The 2016 harvest was another early one! We brought in our first block of pinot--the 667 from our Emerald Ridge Vineyard--on August 30. Yields on most vineyards this year look to be down a bit, although not as bad as 2015's meager crop (the variability of which is shown in the picture below). This lower cluster count and size is also due to the poor weather during set of 2015, since the buds for the following year's crop are also decided at this time. The reduced crop and mild weather this summer combined for an earlier than usual havest, shooting down Dan's hope of never starting harvest until after the Labor Day weekend once again.
